Continuity planning is a large task, add in the additional elements necessary to completely plan for continuity of operations at a higher ed institution and the task becomes colossal at best. Higher ed institutions must plan for research and academic continuity, and do so in such a way that is easy for academic and research departments to understand and execute while respecting the institutional vernacular. Research and academic continuity planning are necessary to maintain the institution’s critical functions, thus continuing to meet the institution’s mission, if an adverse event occurs.
