Case Study: Managing a Growing Research Enterprise with Kuali

Overview

Georgia Southern University (GSU), a Carnegie Doctoral Research University founded in 1906, offers 125 degree programs serving more than 20,000 students. Through eight colleges, GSU offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs and serves to bring together education, student engagement, research activity, and collaborations in ways that benefit the community, the state, and the nation.

To effectively manage their growing research enterprise, the Office of Research Services and Sponsored Programs needed a way to streamline grant and research activities and quickly access accurate data in a single, automated system.

Challenges

GSU struggled to manage their research enterprise. They needed quick and accurate access to data in a single, automated system. GSU needed a method to improve pre-award, post-award, and compliance management practices.

Solution

The search for a better solution led Georgia Southern University to select Kuali Research. Built on open source, community-developed software, Kuali Research provides GSU with enhanced reporting, streamlined proposal tracking, and compliance management.
