The Kuali Research team is excited to announce integration with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI).
The new Kuali integration allows research offices to pull their CITI data directly into Kuali Research, avoiding the need for manual data entry. Admins will have one place to view and verify training credentials. And there is no additional cost from Kuali to take advantage of this integration.
Many Kuali Research customers use Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) web-based training as required research ethics and compliance education. CITI training materials cover a number of key regulatory and ethical areas including: animal care and use, biosafety and biosecurity, clinical research coordinator, conflicts of interest, disaster planning for the research enterprise, export compliance, good clinical practice, good laboratory practice, human subjects research, IRB administration, information privacy and security, and responsible conduct of research.
How does it work?
A Kuali Research user with the Training Maintainer permission can map training courses extracted from the CITI data feed to Kuali Research training types. CITI data are populated into a staging table based on a scheduled job that is set by a system administrator. These data are then automatically added into the existing Kuali person training maintenance table and available for use in Kuali Research modules, based on current functionality, and via our embedded reporting. We are also planning future enhancements to leverage this valuable training data in the various modules.
How do I start using Kuali Research – CITI integration?
Kuali Research cloud customers just need to reach out and we will help set set up and manage the integration, at no additional cost from Kuali. Kuali Research on-premise customers will need to involve their technical folks to set it up.
Important CITI preliminary steps:
- Be or Become a CITI Subscriber. Fees vary. https://www.citiprogram.org
- Initiate the CITI automated download service. CITI charges a one-time fee for subscribers to access their data via a data feed. More information: http://support.citiprogram.org/customer/portal/articles/235727
- Subscribe to CITI Single Sign-On (SSO). Institutions are highly encouraged to subscribe to CITI’s single sign-on service to better ensure the accuracy of matching CITI users to Kuali Research persons.
