Salt Lake City, UT – July 14, 2015 – Kent State University has selected Kuali Research as its new grant and contract management solution. Kuali and Kent State will now start the first full migration from the legacy MIT Coeus to the new Kuali Research in the cloud. The SaaS solution automates the full lifecycle of sponsored grant and research projects, empowering Kent State’s team to easily create, enhance and submit insightful, data-driven proposals, as well as manage awards and ensure compliance.
“Kuali is the company that develops the Kuali Research product in collaboration with the community,” said Lori Burchard, Director of Sponsored Programs at Kent State. “We wanted to partner with the company who was responsible for the development and support of the product to make sure we had a voice in product direction and a partner with the capability to meet Kent State’s growing research administration needs.”
Kuali Research is a product of the collaborative efforts of more than 40 higher ed institutions and is developed specifically for higher education. Kent State has leveraged the original MIT Coeus software for almost ten years, and now leads an impressive list of institutions intending to migrate from the legacy software to this modern SaaS solution, seamlessly transferring its historical MIT Coeus data and system configuration.
Unlike conventional systems that often require expensive and disruptive upgrades, Kuali Research brings a continuously deployed cloud-based platform to its user community. This empowers Kent State’s team with access to the latest features and functionality to better manage the proposal and acceptance process, which has typically been quite cumbersome for colleges and universities.
Kuali Research simplifies proposal preparation, review and approvals through a single source of comprehensive and accurate data and insights. Institutions can automatically submit proposals through the company’s integration with grants.gov, and upon receiving an award, they can manage funding, coordinate related compliance protocols, meet disclosure requirements, and oversee management plans. The solution also includes an extensive set of key reports, and embedded ad hoc reporting, allowing users to quickly access research related data and make insightful, data-driven decisions.
“We are thrilled to be working with Kent State and eager to help the university pursue the kinds of grant and research opportunities that will further fuel the university’s role as an engine for economic, cultural and workforce development,” said David Usher, Kuali Research Product Manager at Kuali. “Kent State recognized the merit of the MIT Coeus software that was designed by higher education, for higher education, and with the migration to Kuali Research, its users will enjoy an improved experience and continuous upgrades, while maintaining the system’s core functionality and value.”
