Salt Lake City, Utah – August 19, 2015 – Kuali, Inc., the company simplifying administration for colleges and universities with cloud based open source software, announced today that Darren Wesemann has joined the company’s board of directors. An education technology veteran, Wesemann recently served as senior vice president and chief technology officer at Ellucian and led technology and product for SunGard Higher Education before the Datatel merger that formed Ellucian.

“I am delighted to join Kuali, where deep and focused energy in delivering value to education is the cornerstone of its operations and its solutions,” said Wesemann. “During a time when M&A activity and consolidation is severely limiting what edtech visionaries are able to do, it is refreshing to be involved with a company that puts innovation and product development investment first. Kuali’s solutions yield real and sustainable benefits to higher ed.”

Prior to more than 10 years in the higher education ERP software business with Ellucian and SunGard, Wesemann served as CIO for American Investment Bank, co-founded six startups where he raised a cumulative $83M in funding, and successfully exited all six ventures.

“Darren will be a tremendous asset to our board, bringing innovative higher education product and technology expertise that will further position us as a viable alternative to legacy ERP systems,” said CEO Joel Dehlin. “His insight and ingenuity will help advance our thoughtfully designed and continuously delivered SaaS applications, which simplify higher ed administration and reduce costs.”
